What is a Broad?

“A backhanded compliment for A female who doesn’t need a male to tell her who she is.” (Publisher’s definition) Beautiful or not, she is aware of her femininity and instinctively “turns up the burners” when facing insurmountable goals. Rosie the Riveter knew what she was doing when she created Helena Rubinstein’s RED.

Like Scarlet O’Hara in “Gone with the Wind” she sometimes makes the wrong choices, but lives “another day” to recreate herself.

BROAD MINDED WOMEN OF THE PAST:
Without going all the way back to Sheba; the incomparable, Mae West, (my Mom’s favorite, the glam, Rosalind Russell, the original, Ethel Merman, infamous, Joan Crawford, who bulldozed her way into the boardroom of Pepsi, in 1963. And, firecracker, Lucille Ball, who married Desi, the man she needed to run her own studio. God bless the “fiercely independent” Lauren Bacall, who “turned up the burners” for Bogie. She was a “good broad”. Or was she, “a great “dame”?

COLORFUL POLITICAL BROADS:
Eleanor Roosevelt – Whitty Broad
Bella Abzug – Colorful
Ann Richards – a Broad with balls.
With all due respect, Rosalynn Carter, because she danced on tables.
Ambassador, Shirley Temple Black must have been quite a Broad.
